APPEARANCE & BEHAVIOUR

The first Hing that darts to eses seeing a Devon Rex is his unique appearance. The two most striking features are their curly coats and their pixie faces. They also have uncommonly large ears set low on the sides of their wide heads, eyes are large and their noses are slightly upturned. Many people describe a Devon Rex as looking like Yoda from “Star Wars” or one of the Gremlins … or even ET . That`s what you call a Hollywood Cat! The Devon coat varies greatly between individuals, ranging from an almost shaggy mop of loose curls in some to a thin suede-like coat in others. If you are looking for an original pet, a Devon Rex is certainly a pet for you. That`s just the appearance. When you get to know them more closer you will simply fall in love with them!
The Devon is a cat with a very people oriented disposition. They love to be with you and to “help” you do all sorts of activities , from reading to cleaning the house. If you are seated, you will generally have a Devon in your lap. If you are standing, you may have one on your shoulder, if you are lying down, you will generally have one keeping you company. Cooking, washing dishes, ironing…the Devon will be keeping you company! On chilly nights, Devon`s make superb bed warmers often sneaking under the covers to stay warm. They are a very intelligent breed. The typical Devon Rex can be trained to walk on a leash, fetch or perform all manner of tricks. Don`t be astonished when you see them swing their tail inviting you back home – just like many dogs. The Devon`s personality has been aptly described as a cross between a cat, a monkey, and “Dennis the Menace”. Therefore, if you are looking for a statue-type pet don`t bother. However, if you like monkeys and love dogs- the Devon is a dream-cat for you!
